Gretna is ideally situated, offering great access to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Carlisle and Dumfries by way of the M74 and A75 Trunk roads which now bypass the town, It is a modern village with a colourful and interesting past ,relaxed marital laws in Scotland meant that the village provided many a novelist and story teller with plenty of material , storeys of couples dashing away pursued by irate fathers and guardians trying desperately to prevent the inevitable union Gretna today is a perfect example of early 20th century planning with the town being built to house workers for the WW1 war efforts its spacious and open layout with large green makes it a perfect example of country village life a fine place to call home.
